After the pickup at your hotel or accomodation, start your journey in historic Provence by a visit of FONTAINE DE VAUCLUSE : Admire this beautiful village by the river Sorgue, and walk up to its spring, the biggest of Europe, down the cliff.

Then head-off to the ABBAYE DE SENANQUE, the majestic XIIth Century Abbey surrounded by lavender fields, for a photo of this symbol of Provence.

After the photo-stop at the 'belvedere', visit the famous hilltop village of GORDES made of local dry stone, and walk in the provencal market on tuesday.

For the lunch time, we will stay in ROUSSILLON. The enchantment of  this Provencal village weaves its spell throughout the year, as the shades of ochre of the houses and the ground vary with the sunlight. The provencal market on thursday adds even more colors.

This quaint village of LACOSTE will please your eyes, and you can discover an artist gallery in almost every street.

Finally, gaze in the preserved, wild and quiet village of MENERBES, made famous by Peter Mayle's novels. Visit the « Maison de la Truffe et du Vin », the fortress... or have a drink !

Enjoy a visit of the fabulous morning market on Sunday in Isle sur la Sorgue, known as the small “Provencal Venice” by the numerous channels of the river Sorgue all around the village, where you can see traditional provencal market and antics and second-hand market in a festival of noises, fragrances and local products.

My partner and I had a brilliant 2-person private tour through the Luberon region this July (2017), setting off from Avignon. The best aspects of the tour can be summarised thus: -A friendly, knowledgeable, humorous and interesting guide who tackled questions on history and everyday life in the region -Not having to drive, especially through the narrow streets of the hill-top towns -Having the opportunity to select exactly what we wanted to do and for how long, and to be able to divert from the planned route whenever we wished -Avoiding the worst of the tourist crush by setting out early It's not the lowest cost way of seeing the region of course, but totally worth it.

We had booked a small group tour but even though there were not enough passengers, we were taken in a private car. The tour was great. Our guide, Gilles Balazut was very prompt and took us to more places than planned as we were just the two of us. Even though the lavender fields were not blossomed, we were intimated well in advance and the tour was modified according to our convenience. The villages of Luberon were beautiful and anyone who would like to spend a nice quite day visiting beautiful villages, it is a great tour. If you get the lavender fields blossoming, you are more lucky! I recommend this trip.
