After the pickup at your hotel around 9:00am, start your journey in the southern Cotes du Rhone by exploring the beautiful area of CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, with a guided visit of the castle ruins and a quick historical context's explanation, followed by a presentation of the grapes categories we blend, and the grounds where they grow.

If it is raining, we will go to the wine museum (free of charge), where you can enjoy a personal audio-guided visit through the wine making old world that will fix your day's intonation.

Then you will have your first wine tasting, even if still a bit too early, with the white CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE. Grown in very small quantity, crispy and fruity, this white will brighten your fish dishes or even the white meats in cream sauce. Immediately after you will try the red, the world's most famous and the well known wine in the COTES DU RHONE area. Silky and bewitching, it defies imitations.

If you wish, there is possibility of a guided visit of one of the most prestigious wine cellars in the area (own expense, 12 or 24 €/person).

For the lunch (own expense) you have the choice between a terrace with views on the valley and gastronomic Provence cuisine, or a high evolutive gastronomic lunch in the most beautiful chateau of the village. In both places prices are approximately same, around 30€/person. You also can choose to have snacks !

If you didn't have dessert, if you like chocolate, you can try the WINE & CHOCOLATE experience (own expense, 6€/person).

Then we wil cross the Rhone river to discover the mysterious LIRAC and the delightful TAVEL :

LIRAC

Little known out of the area of the Cotes du Rhone, the red is elegant, has complexity and bouquets, deep ruby robe, and the woods and licorice developping aromas during aging, make it an excellent "vin de garde". The white is smooth, fruity and fresh, and can "flavour" as well the aperitive as the dessert.

TAVEL

Proclaimed first "rosé de France", king of rosés by the Pope Innocent VI, this fresh and fruity pink is very popular through its quality. We can drink it anytime, as aperitive or with a great variety of spicy meals.

If we have time remaining, if you are not tired, we will go to UZES. The most westernly city in Provence is outside the Cotes du Rhone area, but their noble wines have the same character and are smoother, an unbeatable value !

Around 18:30 we will go back to your hotel for a good rest...

Of course if you have special requirements or if you know where you want to go we can discuss, we can adapt...

Please note : Wine shipping is very expensive. Should you plan to buy and ship bottles, you can proceed a shipment of 3(100€),6(150€),12(220€) bottles from the same cellar only. Another solution is to get (from us, € 125) a special wine carrier, approved by all airlines companies, that allow you to carry up to 15 bottles in full safety... to be considered in your luggages's weight calculation (18kg) !

We had an awesome day with Gilles tasting wines from across a number of regions of the southern Rhone! First off, he contacted us in advance to find out our preferences so he could customize the day for us. Gilles owns vineyards in CdP so he really know the wine industry, the regions, the growers, and the wineries exceptionally well - we learned so much from our time together! Lastly, Gilles was not only prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable, he also was extremely flexible (we decided to skip the last tasting because we already had so much wine 2/3 of the day through the day, so he took us to the Pont du Gard instead), and he's got a great sense of humor! We really enjoyed our time with Gilles, and you will as well!

Couldn't have been better! Our guide, Gilles was wonderful. He made my husband, who doesn't drink wine, feel like a part of the tour. We visited a number of different wineries from one that dated to Roman times, to the state of the art Chateauneuf de Pape. I loved the visit to the small vineyard and our conversation with its owner. Our lunch in the garden at the Chateau was great and even the weather cooperated as it was a beautiful day. Definitely a treat!

Our wine tour experience was exceptional. In looking for wine tour options prior to booking, most only included a couple of wineries and then stops at historical points. Being wine enthusiasts, we wanted to visit more places if possible. That is what drew us to this tour option. Our guide was a local grape grower and was very familiar with the area. From the moment he picked us up, it was clear that he was being thoughtful about what we wanted to get out of the experience. Overall, we were impressed with the thought put into the chosen locations and order, as well as our guide's attentiveness and flexibility. I think this tour provides tremendous value for the money !
